"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given..." Isaiah 9:6
Our Purpose
The purpose of this church is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ through Holy Spirit controlled believers fulfilling the Great Commission.
Our Philosophy
Closely related to the purpose of any church is its philosophy of ministry. We find our philosophy for ministry in Ephesians 4:11-12. "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."
God intended for the local church to function as a team. The body of Christ has many individuals specifically given a spiritual gift, natural talents, unique personality and a particular time schedule to fulfill the divine call of any local church. Each one is equipped for his specific job. Each one is dependent upon the other to perform his specific job. Here at CBC we expect each member to serve as God equips and leads.
Our Goals
Fifty By Faith
Colonial Baptist Church is very missions oriented. It is a stated goal of CBC to identify, disciple, train and send out 50 couples or individuals into full-time ministry within a 20 period which began in 2003. This would include missionaries (church planters and mission support personnel), pastors, associate pastors, youth pastors, evangelists, and teachers.
Impact Blue Ridge
Impact Blue Ridge is our church's initiative to share with our community the good news of Christ through an accurate presentation of the gospel by either church activities or outreach ministries.
Our Missions Program
We at Colonial Baptist Church believe that the biblical mandate given the church by Christ through the Great Commission is world evangelization. The missions program of CBC is based on the scriptural conviction that God desires the local church to be the primary means of sending people to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to every tribe, tongue, and nation (Matthew 28:19 -20).
